Common Questions

Everything you need to know about how Simcha Days works, what it costs, and how to get started.

The Basics

Simcha Days is a private shared calendar for heimishe family events. It gives your family one place to track upcoming simchas like weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, brisses, vorts, and more.

Everyone in your family can see the same calendar, add events, and get reminders. Nothing is public. It works by invite only.

Any family that has a lot going on. If you find yourself texting relatives to check whether someone already has a simcha on a date, or losing track of who already scheduled what, Simcha Days is built for you.

It works for extended families, families with multiple branches (mother's side, father's side, in-laws), and any group that wants one shared view of what is coming up.

One person sets up the family calendar and becomes the admin. The admin invites family members by email. Each person who accepts the invite signs in with their Google account and can immediately see and add events.

Events can be marked as tentative (still being planned) or locked (confirmed). Everyone on the calendar sees both, so no one double-books a date that is already in play.

The calendar shows Hebrew dates alongside regular dates, and flags Shabbos and Yom Tov automatically so you do not accidentally place something on a day that does not work.

Accounts and Access

There are two ways:

Starting a new calendar: Go to the payment page, pay the $10 annual fee, and sign in with Google. You will be set up as the admin and can start inviting your family right away.

Joining an existing calendar: The admin of your family calendar sends you an invite link by email. You click the link, pay your $10, and sign in with Google. You are added to the calendar immediately.

You do not need to set anything up. Just let us know or ask the family admin to send you an invite link. When you click the link and pay your $10, you will be added directly to the existing calendar. There is no separate setup step.

If you are not sure whether your family already has a calendar, reach out to us through the contact form and we will check for you.

No problem. Contact us through the form on the site and we will merge the two calendars together, or move you from the one you created into the existing family calendar. Either way, no events or data are lost and you will not be charged twice for the same period.

This situation comes up and we will sort it out for you.

Yes. For example, you might be on your own family's calendar and also on your in-laws' calendar. Each calendar is a separate $10 per year. You see all your calendars in one place when you sign in.

Regular members can see all events on the calendar and add their own events. They can also edit or update events they created themselves.

Admins can do everything a regular member can, plus invite new people, remove members, edit any event on the calendar, and manage calendar settings like family branches and conflict buffer rules.

The person who sets up the calendar starts as the admin. Admins can also promote other members to admin if they want to share that responsibility.

Pricing

It is $10 per person, per calendar, per year.

Every person on a calendar pays their own $10 annually. There are no family packages, no shared plans, and no per-event fees. If you are on two different family calendars, that is $10 per year per calendar, so $20 total per year.

The $10 covers everything. There are no features locked behind a higher tier.

Your $10 renews automatically one year from the date you first signed up. You will receive a reminder before it renews. You can cancel at any time and your access continues until the end of the period you paid for.

You keep access through the end of the year you already paid for. After that, your account is deactivated and you are removed from the calendar. The events and data you added stay on the calendar for other members.

If the whole family wants to stop, the calendar admin can close the calendar and all accounts are cancelled at once.

Privacy and Data

Yes, completely. Your calendar is only visible to members who have been invited and have signed in. Nothing is public. We do not index events, we do not sell data, and we do not show ads.

Yes. Simcha Days uses Google sign-in, which means you do not need to create a separate password. Any Google account works, including Gmail and Google Workspace accounts.
